We in the reserve force, ten thousand spears strong, have come to the aid of our countrymen
This morn in Alhevia Pass we prevailed an ambush, but by it we were delayed half of the battle's third day

As we summit Dreste'Êeyfarlg Dat, the hill once a god's thimble
The clamour of combat resounds, steel upon steel and the bloody screams of those wounded and dying

A dire scene plays before us
One of carnage and fearwrought dismay

In the dimming eve we find our allies
The ground beneath soaked with their blood, the field littered by their dead

The enemy's force holds far superior than our scouts had foretold
A mere two hundred of our men remain, skewered on all sides by countless spears

We have arrived far too late
And General Myghnen orders
A full retreat before we are engaged

Crackling volutions sear the air above, the hisses and retorts of
Adavenan sorcerers' hellfire
Dread beasts of war, their maws
Flay our brethren as they're consumed
The General be damned, his cowardice besmirches us all

I turn to my regiment, the third of the force under my command
"Hault!" I bellow, "About face and form lines! Look upon the faces of our dying comrades!"
"They know we have forsaken their cause, and soon their lives
Their souls are shattered, with armor rent and blades broken"

Failure today will not be in our deaths
But in the abandonment of brothers and friends
If you were in their stead, would not your hearts plead for aid?
Are we to just leave them to die?

Their eyes are steeled with resolve

DAWN OF EXISTENCE plays melodic death metal, which appears significantly blackened through the screaming share at the vocals. The sound is quite heavy, "Toe Up" for example reminds me of Hypocrisy in style. As there are more catchy monster tracks like "Marble Garden" or "Satan Spacelord", "Ancient Arts" became an impressive debut. H.L.
